Since 2001, the Region has provided annual “one time” funding for the provision for physician recruitment services. Initially, this program was provided by the Niagara District Health Council (NDHC) who was accountable for the program delivery. In March 2005, the NDHC was disbanded by the Province, which left the Physicians Resources Planning Task Force without a reporting body. In the interim, Heart Niagara Inc. agreed to provide this service for the Regional Municipality of Niagara.
The Niagara Physician Recruitment Program provides quarterly written reports to Niagara Regional Council, the Niagara Physician Recruitment Committee and Heart Niagara highlighting the progress and successes.
