CPR Training
Cardiovascular disease is currently the leading cause of death among Canadians. The incidence of heart disease continues to rise in Niagara and emphasis is being placed on risk factors and healthier choices.
Although prevention is the leading strategy in the fight against cardiovascular disease, there is also a need to be able to provide immediate CPR for an individual who experiences a heart attack.
When performing CPR, the rescuer is manually working as the victim’s heart and, if safe (health history is known or barrier device is available,) the victim’s lungs to pump oxygenated blood throughout the victim’s body. This means that CPR can make the difference between life and death in instances of cardiac arrest, drowning, stroke, choking and any other situation where a victim’s heart and lungs are not working.
CPR not only saves lives; being trained in CPR can also provide peace of mind that you will be able to react confidently in an emergency.
